This is not an official warning service

Wyrdin Map is an independent project. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or operated by any government agency, emergency service, or data publisher. In an emergency, call 000. For official warnings use the agencies directly: NSW RFS, Bureau of Meteorology, NSW SES and the Hazards Near Me service.

Fire data

Satellite hotspot data (DEA Hotspots) is not to be used for safety of life decisions. Not all fires are detected; false detections occur (industrial heat, gas flares, sun-heated rock); positional accuracy is at best about 375 m; data is at least ~17 minutes old with a limited number of satellite passes per day. Incident feeds can lag events, and unmapped incidents are plotted at approximate council-area locations.

Data currency

Every layer shows when it was last updated, and is flagged stale when an update is overdue. Feeds can be delayed, interrupted or withdrawn by their publishers at any time. Never assume the absence of a marker means the absence of a hazard.
